We were lucky enough to find a house with a FULLY. FINISHED. BASEMENT. I thought I had hit the motherload. Seriously, when you buy a house, I don't understand how you could possibly ever garner enough money to finish your basement. As far as I see it, if I have a house with an unfinished basement, I can pretty much guarantee that I will forever have the dopest, largest, most expansive food storage area ever [if I were on top of that sort of thing]. That, or a totally rad area for all the neighborhood kids to come rollerblade in. Take your pick. Either way, that thing would probably never get finished.
In this house however, we've got a beautiful area to eventually grow into. Jeff has all sorts of plans for the living area/entertainment area of the basement. ONE DAY, of course.
Lets take a peek, shall we?
Here is a view of the main part of the basement. The entertainment area. Because it was a large area of carpeting, of course the prior owner decided to take ALL OF IT. Joy. He left the carpet pad though. What a sweetie!
Here's the same area re-adding carpet, baseboards, blinds and doors. Minus-ing a cute baby of course.
You may notice in this pic, there's a large built in entertainment center [what? you missed it? but you noticed the missing knobs in the prior post? you're weird]. That came with the house, and due to the modern marvel concept of "built-in", the prior owner wasn't able to pilfer it. Score one for the Hoffmann's.
Here's another pic of the entertainment center. Why? I don't know why. Jeff, however, would like me to note that where the large image of my flash appears in the pic [amateur], you can just insert a 50-60" Flatscreen LED TV. It's his latest obsession. That and the future pool table and ping pong table he keeps dreaming of. ONE DAY little buddy. ONE DAY.
Behind me in the prior pics there is a little wetbar/nook. Here's a before pic:
And an after:
Another before:
And another after:
The basement also has a guest suite [wanna come over?], an exercise room, and a small bedroom, but don't worry, you won't be seeing them. They are just boring empty rooms, and aren't you sick of looking at boring empty rooms already? I thought so.

i love the basement! always nice to have that extra space..
Brady and I were thinking!! we will sell our house, and move into your basement!! How does that sound!! We would have so much fun.. I would be you live in baby sitter!! Think about it!! It would have its perks
I love the basement, casey would give his right arm for one, but he would try to call it a man cave and post a first grade sign that says "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" but of course- that would not fly. Isnt it crazy how close houses are-def creepy, but great job fixing that problem. I love the house- its amazing!
How nice! Jaren looks at houseplans all day long. Well, he farms all day long, but when he get's home and has the computer he looks at houseplans and whenever he finds one he likes one he shows me. Our plan is to finish the upstairs and finish 2 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs, then wait for our oldest to be in Jr. High before we finish the rest of the basement. It's awesome that you've found one that has a finished one! I love the carpet choice and the built in is great.
A guest sweet? Someday, my dear, someday. :)
