Anyone Else See This Tonight?

There were a bunch of fighter jets and what looked like a commercial plane [perhaps a tanker?] doing drills above my house this evening.

They were SO LOW, turning SO SHARPLY, and just all out SO AWESOME.

I got two phone calls asking me to go out and take pictures. I did my best, but these pictures do not do the show justice. [Just another reason to buy that $600 lens I've been checking out. haha]. However I think that the impending thunderstorm and dreary skies kind of add to the effect.

It's sad to think we live in a world where drills like this are necessary.

At the same time, I couldn't help but feel my pride overwhelm me just a bit.

We live in a great country.

With amazing men and women who risk their lives every day to keep it that way.

Thank you.

[I've kept all these pictures clickable so that you can enlarge and feel the pride too]

It was SOOOOOO freaking awesome. We were at my moms house, and they were literally right over us, looks like they were right over you as well. It honestly gave me chills. I love fighter jets! I'm glad someone else enjoyed it like us!!!

It's Airforce week this week. In addition to the show last night, they will be doing an "open house" air show up at Hill Field this weekend.

It's a great week to learn about our airforce and to reflect on all that they do for us. My cousin has served four tours of duty in this war. Her husband was wounded and disabled in the same war - he still has to go for treatment three times a week.

It is so awesome to be able to see the fighter jets. Great pictures, Ashley.

It was awesome! We were sitting outside and I couldn't figure out what all the noise was until my hubby pointed to the sky and said, "Uh...look up!" haha. I kept thinking to myself, "Someone is up there in those things". I agree - amazing country we live in and it was awesome to have seen that.

How awesome! You had a free show. And I am thankful they do practice this - because you can't ever think you'll never have to use it. As sad as that is.
