Book Club

So my best friend Jenn (Jenny-Poo to you!) invited me to be a part of her book club. Jenn has been in a book club for years with various people from her work, etc. So I joined, a little reluctant, because I'll be honest.....I haven't read much since college. I've always felt that I read so much in college that I just became burned out. Other than the celebrity smut rags I read at the gym, my brain has not been in any sort of literary mode.

I am now 2 books into the book club, and I am loving it! Perhaps its because I'm remembering how much I love reading for the sake of reading (no more trying to find the deeper meaning or the Christian symbols in all 776 pages of Moby Dick). A little more relevant right now though is the fact that when I'm reading, I'm not thinking about how this little baby is making me feel.

There's really no point to all this rambling, but I thought that I would invite you all to read a few books that I have enjoyed recently. If you haven't already heard about the craze taking over the nation, I highly recommend the Twighlight trilogy by Stephenie Meyer. These books are written on a juvenile level, and geared a little more to the ladies, but they are goooood! I thought Jenn was crazy when she told me that she had asked her husband if they could role play a fantasy like Edward and Bella (the main characters). Did I mention that the books are about vampires? I thought she was crazy, and then I was hooked! I read two 600+ page books in less than a week. Once you catch onto the craze, you realize it's everywhere! Ms. Meyer is going to be as rich as J.K. Rowling in no time flat. So...I invite you to enjoy. Start with Twighlight, then New Moon, and finally Eclipse....New ones to follow (and a movie!).

It is my month to choose a book in book club as well, so I chose one titled "Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime" by Mark Haddon. From what I've heard, this is a fictional book written from the perspective of a boy with autism. It's supposed to be rather enlightening. I've always been curious.....so I'll let you know what I think shortly!

I guess I'm not good at this blogging thing. I think posts are supposed to be 1-2 quick paragraphs. Mine are short novels. I'll try to edit out the fluff, but it's kind of hard to censor myself!
