Two-Month Check-up

Today my baby boy is two months old! My how time flies! He had his eight-week checkup this week, and here is what we found out:

* Baby Kade weights 11 lbs, 15 oz (fatty). He is right on track with his weight. At his two-week appointment is he was 8 lb 11 oz, and he was supposed to gain about 1/2 a pound a week.

* Baby Kade's weight and length is in the 50th percentile (although I feel like the weight measurement is so arbitrary. When he was born he was 22 inches, at his two-week appointment he was 20.5 (I asked...kids can't shrink) and now they say he is 23 inches. I'm pretty sure he's grown more than one inch since birth, but I'm not the "professional"), and his noggin is in the 75th...yes people. My kid has a big head. But it's covered in hair, and your kid's isn't. So there.

* Kade's constant spitting up is still a "non-issue." Since he's gaining weight, there is no need to worry. Just need to stock up on laundry soap.

* Kade's horrible looking eye (think glued shut with crusties) the doc is still considering a "clogged tear duct." Our friends baby went in with the same problem and he's got an "infection." Go figure.

* Oh! And he got three shots (hence the awesome bandaids on each thigh), and was a champ. He did that whole "hold-my-breath-because-I'm-going-to-scream" face, let out a wail, and then was over it.

Things I've noticed with Kaeden

* Kaeden has discovered his tongue, and is always playing around with it. I captured this pic during such an escapade.

* Kaeden has also discovered his fist, and is always bringing his fist to his mouth (sometimes it takes awhile to connect the two resulting in random punches to the noggin and face) to suck on it. He puts one fist in his mouth, and the other to his ear, so it looks like he's ready to box.

* Kaeden is beginning to sleep through the night better. Sometimes he'll go about a 6 or 7 hour stretch. I think we're making progress people...

* Baby loves to talk and smile. He now will smile at someone talking to him. It used to be the only way you could get him to smile was to play with his face, but now we get grins all the time. He also chuckles every now and then. They are still a bit random, but so cute. They kind of sound like a cough, so when I hear it, I look over to check on him, and he's just got a big grin.

* Kaeden likes to spend a lot more time awake and part of the party. He doesn't like to be held like a baby anymore. He's always wanting to sit up and enjoy what is going on.
