Nursery Stuff

Okay, so we've been shopping around a little for the baby nursery furniture (about the only thing that's not so gender specific). Here is what I think we're going to end up getting. Actually, my heart is set on it. I love the set because it is bulky and sturdy, and I finally found a crib in the wood tone that I want! I think the set with last us through many kids (how many? only time will tell!) and in addition, it's one of those cribs that becomes a twin bed in the end. It's about middle of the road when it comes to price. And believe me! I've looked at the more expensive stuff. I was almost set to spend $1500 for a crib itself. Funny thing is, I found this set, love it even more, and the crib is about 1/3 the price. The pics below don't give a ton of detail, but the wood has a lot of detail carved into it. I love it! Love it! Love it! Keep in mind the wood stain pictured is not the stain I am choosing. For those of you who are familiar with my house, the actual stain will be roughly the color of my kitchen cabinets. A warm middle color of brown. Not dark (like cherry), and not blonde (like natural). I think they call the color Walnut.

This is the crib. The set has a lot of nice pieces, but I think that any room we use as the nursery will only fit the two pieces we've picked out. So ignore the armoire in the background.

This is the changing table/dresser/hutch. This pic is probably a little closer to the stain we're choosing, but I don't think it's the exact one. While we are using the dresser as a changing table, we will raise the shelves up so that they are out of the way. No bonking baby's head (because I know I probably would at some point!).

Decorating the nursery is going to be so fun. But at the same time I feel like Jeff and I are in a little bit of a dilemma. If I were decorating a room, I would have paint picked out, and probably a fun design to do with the paint (since it's a kids room). But....Jeff and I plan on putting our house up for sale any minute now. In this market, who knows how long it will take to sell. We don't want to commit the new buyers to some funky little kid paint job, but at the same time, we could be here well past the baby's birth. Maybe I'll have to compromise and just do a neutral paint job (ha, ha! My entire house is that!) and do that dream nursery with the next kid. I'll keep you updated on the progress.

By the way...if you are counting (because I am), we find out the health of the baby and the sex in 2 weeks and 3 hours! Yeah!
