Ever since I have been aware that I have a belly button, I've always wondered what the inside of mine looked like. For those of you who really know me, you know that I have what some would consider a belly button complex. That's because I have a "fat man's belly button." My belly button is so cavernous, it looks like it belongs on a fat man. I've always had a rather flat stomach, but whenever I wore a bikini or a midriff, my belly button made things look well, as if it were encompassed in a bunch of fat. I could probably hide a small family within it. When I was old enough, I found what would be the best fix to my belly button dilemma. I pierced it. At least with a piece of jewelry hanging in front of the hole, no one could readily see just how cavernous my belly button actually is. I've since learned that you can get your belly button reshaped (you even pick your favorite one from a book) via plastic surgery. I've never totally ruled this option out, but I've always told myself that I would wait until I was done having kids before I'd seriously consider it.
So all these years, and I've always wondered what exactly was down there. Believe me, I have tried and tried to see the inside. I've poked and prodded, even sometimes to the point of pain (who knew it could be such a sensitive area). Never was the bottom seen. That was until today....I was sitting at my computer doing some late-night work (trying to catch up as always!), when my mind started to wander. I looked at my little belly that has suddenly started to make an appearance (pics to follow in later posts), and wondered when I needed to find the pregnancy belly button ring to ensure that my hole-hider could make a comeback post pregnancy. And that's when I saw it! The bottom of my belly button. My little baby bump has caused it to surface. You would not believe my excitement over such a dumb thing. I ran in and had to show Jeff. It is made up of the beautiful baby soft skin (I guess from the lack of sun exposure over the past 24 years). While I'm sure that the bottom of my belly button will become an unknown thing again once this pregnancy thing is over, I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. It's actually kinda cute down there! I'll spare you the pic. :)
