Meredith and I had an itch to get out of the house, so she came up with the idea of a quick downtown trip with the kids. Even though it was only a few hours long, she officially named our trip a "staycation."
To start our journey, we rode the Trax train downtown. It was Kaeden's first time on a train.
He thought it was pretty cool.
Especially because he had his girl by his side.
The best was when we got downtown, and he'd crane his neck to see the big buildings. He thought the tall towers were the coolest things ever.
We decided to get off at City Creek, and just walk around and find something to do.
We had a classy meal from McDonald's, and then spent some time in the Disney Store.
While there, Kaeden and Jane got a little lesson on how to draw Spiderman.
Both kids enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as the preteen in the background.
That is some serious concentration.
We crossed the sky bridge, and the kids took in the view.
On the train ride up, the kids kept pointing to tall buildings and saying that they were Rapunzel's tower. Kaeden would point out that they were clearly not. However, while standing on the sky bridge Kade gets all excited and yells, "Look Jane! I found it! Rupunzel's tower!"
Ahem.
No doubt Janey quickly corrected him.
It was the Salt Lake Temple. But hey, I agree with him...It looks pretty magical, right?
The highlight for Kaeden though was the splash pad.
I stripped him down, and let him have at it.
It took all of .0000325524 seconds for security to come by and scold me about him needing clothes and shoes.
Seriously?
So we re-dressed, and he was at it again.
For some reason shooting water really brings out his inner need to jump.
Not even a shot to the face could ruin all the fun.
It was a great little day away.
