Last Day Of School

You know those fun pictures moms mash up of their kids on their first and last day of school?  You know how they are so fun to look at and realize how much a child has changed in the span of just nine months?

On the last day of our first ever school year, I was excited to create such a mash up.

My child however...was not.

After his non-participation in his graduation program, I was thinking that the least this kid could do for his super proud mom was pose for a couple of last-day-of-school pics.

Nooooooope!

Somebody was a little sad it was the last day of school.  Somebody was also a little cranky from just barely waking up.

I begged.

I pleaded.

I acted like a goofball in an attempt to get one. teeny. tiny. smile.

The best I managed was this:

Eh.  Take what you can get.

That's somewhere in between a genuine smile, and a "take-the-freakin'-picture-mom" smile.

Close enough I guess.

And so I give you, the first day/last day mash-up:

Kinda hard to tell too much of a difference with both those silly poses, but let me tell you: this kid has changed so much over the past nine months!  I'm so proud of my little school boy.  His social skills have begun to blossom, he sings songs quietly to himself [still not a performer], and he's telling me so much about his little world that I had NO CLUE he even knew about.  He absolutely loved school this year, and we are actually looking forward to his second year of preschool this Fall.

When we got to school for his last day, I thought that maybe he would have snapped out of his moody funk.

Not so much.

Well....enough to allow me to take a picture...still not enough to actually smile for it.

But don't worry.

He wasn't the only Cranker-Pants that day:

Have you seen two more miserable preschoolers in your entire life?

And for more comparison's sake:

No longer little baby faces!  That's for sure!

Here's to a happy summer! [Fingers crossed]
