Cali Trip, Part 4

For the last day and a half of our trip to California we were lucky enough to spend some time with my Dad and Step Mom. My dad had some business in Los Angeles earlier in the week which my step mom could tag along on, so we planned to all meet up Thursday night, hang out all day Friday, and head off to our separate flights home Saturday morning.

Kaeden was beside himself with excitement to be able to see Grandpa and BB [or Baybee as he's chosen to adapt the name].

After they checked into our hotel, he eagerly walked over to their room with some new artwork made just for them.

Carterbabes was indifferent.  But isn't he always?

My Dad and Pat said they didn't care what we did for the day, so we decided to end our trip the same way we started it...with a trip to Sharkey's and Laguna Beach.

Before we went to Sharkey's we made a stop at Five Guys to pick Kaeden up some fries.  Pat [who is my personal paparazzi] managed to snap this oh-so-perfect family portrait.

Kade with his finger in his nose, Jeff yammering on about something, me trying to focus on the camera, and Carter just doing what he does best;  staring off with a binkie in his mouth.  I actually kind of love this picture.

Kaeden just loved being able to have some Grampa and Baybee time.

At Sharkey's Carter did his usual sit-in-the-middle-of-the-table routine, but I don't think anyone minded the show our centerpiece gave us.

And then we were off to the beach.  Beautiful Laguna Beach.  Kade immediately ran for the water, and didn't want to come out.

Carter still hated it.

The little boy who only a year or so earlier hated to touch the sand couldn't keep his hands off it.

Or off of him.

At one point Kaeden spotted my Dad digging a hole, and decided to offer up his services.

Gotta love that booty in the air.

Meanwhile Carter questioned why we had to return to the beach,

and he showed the same disdain for putting his feet in the sand that his brother had displayed before.

I've mentioned how Pat is my personal paparazzi.  She caught some great pictures of the boys that day.  I especially love these ones of Kaeden at play.

And this one of Jeff and Carter.  There just might be a hint of a smile behind that binkie.

I gave Pat the task of trying to capture a good family photo of us on the beach.  Easier said than done.  Even though she shot continuously, someone always had to be looking the wrong way or pulling a funny face.

Oh well, we tried.

Since I didn't have a hat for Carter, and Kaeden's shirt was only so effective at blocking the sun, we decided to head back up to the walkways and take in our final views of the beach.

Up there Pat snapped a great picture of Jeff and I, and a few cute candids of the kids.

It was so nice to be able to end our trip with a fun day, and fun guests to take around town.  Thanks Dad and Pat!

For the rest of the evening we decided to go and just hang out at our hotel.

The boys put on a great show, of course.

Carter was giving us his big open-mouthed smile all night.

And then I laughed out loud when I saw this picture immediately following a series of the one above.

Talk about a bad angle!  But it reminded me soooo much of a picture we took of Carter when he was just hours old in the hospital.

DERP!

We ended our night with Carter trying to give Kaeden kisses, and Kaeden vehemently refusing.

I do not know who taught him to go for the eyeballs.

And so was the end of our California saga.  It started out crappy and ended on a high note.  Probably not high enough to make me want to do it again any time soon, but we'll see.
