A Transformation

This month our yard went through a major transformation.

A much needed transformation.

When we first moved into our home, the yard was landscaped, but in very bad shape.

Our neighbors tell us our house used to have one of the most beautiful yards in the neighborhood, but that as the foreclosure process proceeded on it, the previous owner just let it die off.

By the time we got it, there was not hope.

We tried for two years to rehabilitate the lawn, but eventually had to resign to the fact that the whole yard needed a do-over.

And so that's what we did.

Well not us, we hired a landscaper, so the process was a lot more fun.  :)

Here is a before picture of our back yard.  The lawn had massive weeds, the deck was awkwardly placed and didn't use the space well, and there were no flower beds.

The first step was stripping everything away to begin with a clean canvas.

Already an improvement!

 Add some trees and shrubs,

And the beginnings of a new patio.

Finish the patio, and add some curbing,

And finally new lawn!

Transformation from another view:

Poor neglected walkout basement.

Some improvement and a new firepit:

And whala!  A yard to be proud of [instead of ashamed].

We are absolutely going to enjoy our summer with our new view.  Come and join us!
