We finally got to have Jenn's baby shower today.
Of course baby Wes came early, surprising us all, but even more surprising was the fact that baby Wes was a boy. He was supposed to be a baby Breena. Whoops!
But it was fun having the actual baby we were showering at the party.
He's so tiny!!
We had all sorts of fun details at the shower. I've never thrown a baby shower, so it was a lot of fun putting it all together.
For table centerpieces I made cupcakes out of onesies and receiving blankets. These are one of the things that I had to run to the store to switch out for boy themed items. Didn't think baby Wes would appreciate being adorned in pink and purple. With the centerpieces, I also put a placecard with a special saying about adoption.
Laura made this cute banner in honor of the special guest.
A lot of the girls pitched in to bring yummy food for the party. I took a stab at making a fruit bowl baby carriage that I had seen on Pinterest, and I think it turned out pretty good!
I also made yummy raspberry lemonade cupcakes. These were another item that was set before we found out Wes was a he and not a she. I told Jenn she couldn't be offended they were still pink! She wasn't of course. I tried to make up for it by creating the "W" toppers.
As our guests left, I had a little Thank You gift at the door.
Everyone got a garden trowel, seed packet, and a card that said "A Baby Has Bloomed" with Baby Wes' birth stats.
My gift to Jenn kind of turned out to be a sham.
I made matching blankets for Baby Breena and the birth mother Kaylee. Since Breena no longer existed, I promised Jenn I would make a special blanket for Wes using some of the same fabrics in Kaylee's blanket, but of course there wasn't time to get that done before the shower.
It's the thought that counts.
Welcome to the world Wes! Congrats on becoming a mom Jenn!
