This summer I finally got to go to the zoo. I mean, KAEDEN finally got to go to the zoo.
Truth is, I've been wanting to go to the zoo forever. When I found out I was pregnant, I remember that one of the things I was most looking forward to was an excuse to go to the zoo. Sad. I know.
So this summer we finally made it, and don't you worry. We got all the obligatory Hogle Zoo pictures you can imagine. I think the only one we're missing is the one with Kaeden's head in the lion water fountain. Maybe next year.
We started out in the mole-hole rodent area. Jeff took Kaeden through while I snapped some pics. Seriously, what are those things? Prairie dogs? Pot belly pigs? I have no clue.
I do know that's one dapper little dude though.
Next up was the playground. At this point Kaeden has become a seasoned veteran on playgrounds. He even knows how to pose for all my favorite shots.

After the playground, it was time for the real show. The animals. I was sooooo disappointed that the hippos were no longer there. I know. That's how long it's been since I've been to the zoo. Oh, how I loved those hippos though.
Believe it or not, all this excitement was over a turkey:
And a llama:
The animals were great though. Many of them were out and active. It was a lot of fun. Especially the baby elephant. That thing was HILARIOUS to watch. It's embarrassing how many pictures I took of her!
I also couldn't get enough pictures of Kaeden and his amazement:
Here's our clan enjoying the penguins. Shortly after this point Kaeden decided he was over it and that he wanted to go hide in the juniper bushes. Seriously? Seriously. That kid is so weird sometimes.
Obligatory picture on the rhino:
And of course the measuring-up-to-the-gorillas picture:
It was a fun day. I'm hoping to get a membership next year so that we can take Keaden up there more often. Oh. And maybe I can visit my baby elephant too.
