Merz and I took the kids to the scarecrow festival because we're adventurous like that.
It was geared toward a little bit older age group than our wee ones, but we still found some fun areas for them.
We started out in the little toddler town. It's basically a roped off area where children under two ran around and played with a bunch of random toys. Reminded me alot of a daycare. Random toys scatter everyone, children grabbing toys from each other [I'm sorry! I'm working on getting Kaeden to understand that's not acceptable!], children crying, and the general cesspool of germs that reside in such environments. I'm not a germ-o-phobe or anything, but this area tested my limits just a little.
The kids enjoyed it though. They had fun on the mini bounce house:
And playing with the toys they don't have at home:
Our next stop was one of the huge slides. If our kids were about five or older, they would have had a hay-day because there were inflatable slides everywhere. Instead, they were lil' youngens with mothers who were determined to make them have a hay-day. Even if it meant we had to squeeze our mommy butts up the tight ladder tunnel to get to the top of the slide.
I tried to go up the ladder with both kids in my arms. Let's just say that my childless arms would have barely squeezed through the tunnel if it weren't for my unwavering determination. Luckily there was a sweet girl in front of me who offered to help with one of the children. She ran right up with Janer and I just yelled from behind, "I'll be right there!" Embarrassing. But worth it:
Even more worth it? Watching Merz trip off the end of the slide and then elegantly stand right back up and give me a look like, "Did you see that?" [Sorry Merz, I had to. It was really funny]
But nothing the Scarecrow Festival had to offer compared to the toddler bounce for Kaeden. HE. LOVED. IT. In fact, I filmed one of my most prized videos of Kaeden's existence while he was playing in the bounce house. I'll spare you because I'm sure it's not nearly as funny to you as me, but trust me. The kid can bounce.
We topped off our day with a hay ride and a visit from the headless horseman. While all the older kids squealed in fear/delight, Kaeden and Jane just waved. I think they were a little miffed the headless horseman refused to wave back.
And of course, for the wedding photo montage:
The End.
