Summer 2009

In the summer of 2009, Kaeden was treated with a visit from these two special people:

And let's just say he loved every minute of their love and attention.

It was a short trip, but action packed none-the-less.

Okay.  Maybe not so action-packed.

It's a rare occasion when we get Annie and Max here in Utah, so I wanted to do something fun.  Something different.  Something authentically Utah.

At first I thought a nice mountain hike was in order [no mountains in Texas, right?], but then I remembered it was August, and a case of heat stroke probably wasn't something my brother and sister were hoping to pack home with them.

So we settled for a day at a lake.

Kaeden immediately settled in and enjoyed playing in the sand.

You may ask yourself, "Ashley, what exactly do you do when you have a day at the lake?"

And I would answer back, "We do what every other respectable non-boat owners would do. We float." That's right. We brought out the ghetto, and floated on our floaties. I'm pretty sure the wave runners cruising around us were pretty jealous.

All joking aside, it was fun.

And hot!

So we of course made sure we were constantly hydrated.

All in all it was a nice day.

I asked Annie and Max if they were having fun. They politely said "yes." I asked Max if he wanted to use a floatie, since there was no need for him to just swim in the lake [like he was all afternoon].

His reply?

"I swim like this all the time in the lake at home."

Oh.

That's right.

They have a lake. At their home. I forgot they live on a sprawling ranch. With lakes and stuff.

So much for giving them a unique taste of Utah.

But...how do you know your day was a success anyway?

This happens before you even get your gear packed up [or deflated, but whose really keeping tabs?]

Oh, the summer fun....
