Aubrey the Librarian

This adorable little girl is my five-year-old niece Aubrey. She is one of those people who marches to the beat of her own drum.....to say the least. The hilarious stories you could tell about her go on and on....

I took this picture of her last night after she asked her Nana (grandma) to pull her hair into a high bun. Most little girls requesting such a thing are doing so to pretend they are a ballerina. Not Aubrey. She wanted to be a librarian (in fact, she's already declared this as her Halloween costume of choice). Hence the glasses pulled down to the tip of her nose. The topper of this act was the fact that when the librarian went around "shushing" people. She did so in a British accent. Got to love that little girl!

This is another pic of Aubrey with her hat that Jeff made her. He used it to distract her from stealing his white hat and running around the house with it....sorry babe! Even I know not to mess with Uncle Jeff's white hats (let's just say he's a little anal about them!)

Last pic is a cute pic of Kaeden, Aubrey, and Ethan (Aubrey's eight-year-old bro). Ethan was a sweetheart all night giving each of us massages with various massage items while taking a "poll" as to which one was the best. The things that entertain kids....I love it! I have to tell you though...for being an eight-year-old, this kid has some strong hands. The hand massage he gave hands down (no pun intended) beat all the other massage "tools." Hey E, lets play this game again real soon.

Ethan and Aubrey are going to be the big sibs to baby Samantha due in September. I wonder what alternate name Aubrey with give baby Sammy. When I was pregnant with Kaeden, Aubrey was enamoured with the baby in my belly. One day she asked if I had brought my baby to a family dinner( I think she thought I had delivered him). A little confused I pointed to my belly and told her that he was right here, and her face just lit up and exclaimed, "Whoa! You really did bring him."

In another conversation I had with Aubrey (before I knew Kaeden was a boy), I was asking Aubrey what I should name my baby if it were a boy, girl, or twins. She came up with some pretty crazy names, one of them being Rocket (pronounced "Wocket") for a boy. I had forgotten this conversation when a few weeks later Jeff called his brother to let him know we were expecting a boy. In the background Jeff heard Aubrey yell, "Yesssss! Rocket!" I have no clue how she remembered. From that time on she has always referred to Kaeden as Rocket. When her parents tried to tell her that the baby's name wasn't really going to be Rocket, Aubrey didn't believe them. She insisted that she be allowed to call me and ask me what his name was going to be because her "uncle Jeff and aunt Hollie wouldn't tell her the truth, but aunt Ashley would." Luckily that convo never actualized. Last night Aubrey was so excited to see that Rocket was over when she arrived at her Nana's house, and she spent the night singing songs such as "Rocket bye Baby in the Tree Top." So cute!
