Baby Update

So here are some belly pics of me at 37.5 weeks. Baby is getting big! We had our weekly doctor's appointment last Monday. I was dilated to 1.5 cm, and somewhere between 25-50% effaced. Kaeden measured to be a 40 week baby (3 weeks ahead), so the doctor discussed that at my next appointment (tomorrow), if I hadn't already had the baby, and if I had progressed to be even 0.5 cm more, we would pull out a calendar and look at a day to induce me the rest of the way a little early. This is wierd to me because before he told me that he doesn't like to induce, because there is not point in trying to induce a body that isn't ready (long explanation, but it really made sense). He told me at this appointment thought that Kaeden should be gaining about a 1/2 lb a week, and if he gets too much bigger we run the risk of having to do a caesarian (sp?). He could have sent me down to do an ultrasound to see if the baby is really that big, or if a large placenta or lots of amniotic fluid could be the reason for Kaeden to be measuring big. However, the margin of error on an ultrasound is about 1 lb, so at this point it wouldn't really help. Because my body is progressing so well on it's own, he is 100% comfortable with helping it to finish the job. Crazy to think that I only have about 1 week left (unless I go sooner on my own)!
Oh, and my doctor mentioned that he will be out of town as of the 27th (my official due date is the 30th). I asked him who would take care of me if I decided to just let thing go on their own, and he told me Dr. Wilde. You may remember him from such events as my Memorial Day Labor and Delivery run, and I will tell you one thing.....I will do everything in my power to not have him be my attending physician! Jeff and I saw him in the office during one of our appointments shortly after Memorial Day, and he was talking to a nurse with the worst language and being all crass and stuff. I don't think he cared everyone could hear him. I do not want that man bringing Kaeden into the world. Dollars to donuts!
On a side note, I will have to say that I really warmed up to my doc. He is a really nice guy, and I think we just got off to a bad start. Perhaps I didn't understand his humor. I know that my mind might change when the big dance comes, but for now I would say he is a great doctor.
Oh, and if anyone of you are wondering, I think I posted last that at a two week doctor's appointment I had supposedly gained 9 lbs in 2 weeks (whatever!). Well, at the next appointment I lost 2 lbs, and at the next I gained 1. It's all in what you eat for lunch right before! My grand total for the preganacy now is 34 lbs. I'm still in the normal range, but getting so close to the 200 lb mark on the scale! :)
