Broken Water

I received an email from our real estate agent while at work on Thursday letting us know that he had been contacted by Lehi City Water letting him know that our house had a broken sprinkler line that was flooding the street behing us (he, he! Take that 2100 North!) Lehi City was called out and traced the problem to our sprinkler box. They called our agent since his number was on our sign.

I headed home early to survey the damage, and was pleased that our agent went out of his way to come over and make sure there was no water in the house since he didn't know if we would be able to leave work. Luckily there was no water near the house (my smart husband placed the box in the very back corner of our yard), and the damage around the sprinkler box was barely noticable. However, the lagoons on the side road behind our house told a different story.

Jeff was unable to get out and get things fixed until this morning, so unfortunately our crummy lawn that was starting to turn green, now looks like this again. Yeah for nice weather finally....boo for broken sprinklers! Jeff thinks it will be a relatively cheap fix, but with the news about our TV, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I guess I should feel fortunate though because as big or small as these "problems" may be, Jeff and I have a healthy savings account to move past these things with relative ease (he thanks me nearly everyday for being so good with money).

Of course whenever yard work is involved, Milo is right in the middle of the action. Here are a few pics of him surveying the problems. When daddy needs to dig, lil' feller gets right to work too. Who knew Yorkie's we such good burrowers?

Oh! I almost forgot the funniest part of the story! After our agent alerted me to the problem, I called Jeff's work. The receptionist told me he was in a meeting, but that she would see if she could break in (at this point she had no clue why I was calling, she made it sound like it was some kind of imformal meeting he was in). She comes back to the phone and let me know that he was in the middle of his presentation (a practice run of the one he's doing in front of 20 doctors next week), and when she told him I was on the phone he said, "Unless she is in labor or there's some other emergency, I will call her back."
I told the receptionist a brief overview, but that I wasn't too worried since our agent was on his way to our house. I asked that she just have him call me when he was done. Apparently she thought it qualified as an emergency and again broke in on Jeff saying, "There's broken water, but it's at your house, not with your wife." I thought it was clever, but the next time I talked to the receptionist, she was worried that Jeff was mad. I guess his face dropped when she made the announcement. I had to reassure her that it probably just took him a minute to process what was said. Jeff later told me that when she came back he was worried it was bad news. It took him a minute to calm down and realize that although still bad news, it wasn't what he originally thought. Funny!
