I Finally "Like" the Tahoe

So Jeff and I got a new car back in November. Since we both drove sweet Toyota Corollas (same model & year) when we met, we decided it was time to stop being the dorks in the neighborhood who have the same cars parked side by side in the driveway. In reality, we decided it was time to invest in something four wheel drive, and since I was newly prego, Jeff really wanted a safer car for me.

Well, like we always do, Jeff and I researched the heck out of possible cars. We really like the new 2007 Chevy Tahoes, but they were a little out of my "comfort zone." After a lot of looking, this fully loaded used Tahoe pretty much landed in our lap. We got it from a guy who just needed to get out of it, and we got a killer deal. Not even I could say no. This car is ridiculous. It has everything including navigation, XM radio, a DVD system, and did I mention 24" rims?

Getting a car like this is so not me. It is just so over the top. Jeff loves it. He loves everything about it. Since we've had it I've "complained" here and there about it. It's definitely a gas guzzler, it's huge, and writing out that payment each month just isn't fun. But I will admit, it's a crazy nice vehicle.

Well today the Tahoe went up a few notches in my book. I now officially "like" it. Today we got dumped on here in Utah. I think it snowed all night, and it didn't stop until early afternoon. When I finally decided to head to work this morning (I waited as long as I could for the roads to clear), I was so impressed with how the Tahoe handled. People were getting stuck left and right. The freeways (usually rather clear especially by 10 a.m. since were used to this stuff here) were so packed with snow that you couldn't change lanes without plowing through a huge drift. When I got to the surface streets, basically every parking lot had cars stuck at the entrance, they couldn't make it through the drifts that the snow plows were creating. I can honestly say it is the worst snow storm I have driven through.

And if you know me, you know I hate driving in the snow (it stems from a time I nearly wrapped my car around a telephone pole back in college). But I had to go in to work, so off I went. The Tahoe didn't even know there were adverse conditions out there. It just handled everything so well. I could plow through huge drifts with no problem. Thank Goodness! So for today I will say I am grateful for our car.
